Yu Garden, built in the Ming Dynasty, has a history of more than 400 years. Yu Garden is located in the center of Shanghai's Old Town, a few blocks south of the Bund. It has a total area of 2 hectares (5 acres) and over 40 scenic spots. The gardens inside and outside are built in the classical style of the Ming Dynasty. There are countless strange stones, trees, ponds, and the porch and the Nine-Turn Bridge are divided into many parks, pavilions, and gazebos, making people feel as if they are back in the historical era.

Since 1943, the name of the road on the Bund in Shanghai has been Zhongshan East 1st Road, which is 1.5 kilometers long, starting from Yan'an East Road in the south to the Outer White Bridge over the Suzhou River in the north. The east side faces the Huangpu River, and the west side is the concentrated area of old Shanghai's financial and foreign trade institutions. Along the street, there are more than twenty classical revival buildings, known as the "Exhibition of World Architecture". In recent years, many new skyscrapers have changed the skyline behind the Bund in Shanghai.
